About

Volunteer as an OHAP Indexer

  • Indexers break down completed interview into searchable
sections to help potential listeners discover oral histories that are relevant to their interests.
  • Indexing is a technical keyword and content tagging process used by the Nunn Center to make interviews more accessible for research purposes. Interviews are not publicly viewable until they have been indexed.
  • Using an app developed by the Nunn Center, indexers listen to a recorded interview, split it into cohesive segments, identify the theme and keywords in each segment, write a summary, and geolocate the area mentioned in that segment.
  • Indexers are required to complete on-line training and work with an OHAP mentor until they have demonstrated competency.
  • Click HERE to learn more about indexing.
  • Indexers need not be Returned Volunteers.
